From Thanksgiving to Christmas

A couple weeks ago, my Mom suggested I listen to the song "I'll be Home for Christmas" every day until I finally leave for America. I found I can't listen to it everyday or else I start bawling my eyes out, but when I do listen to it, I play it over and over and over at least 20 times. I love the version by Bing Crosby the best. There's something about his voice that soothes me. I guess I'm not the only one. He was "the Crooner" after all (Mom gave me that tidbit. I'd never actually heard much by him before now).

On a lighter note, there's only 16 days left before my flight leaves! But before that, there's still a ton to do around here. We have a big Christmas Program on the 17th and everyone is busy with preparations. We've been singing Christmas songs and practicing our routines until the kids are sick of them (and me too, for that matter). But it will all be worth it. Being here was a great experience, but I am so ready to go home. If we manage to find someone to film the program, I want a copy. It will be fun to remember the kids and all their (and ours) hard work.

Steph and I recently went to an ice cream store. She got the giant strawberry and vanilla mound. I got the three strawberry scoops and the cake.

Yesterday, my class set up and decorated the Christmas tree. Very fun times were had. The kids hung up pipe cleaner candy canes we made in class on Wednesday.

One night, I had some free time so I went to a sit-down restaurant so I could get some dinner. I've mostly been staying away because I can't read the menus, but I've been getting better at reading characters, so I was able to find something with beef and rice. When the bowl came pout, it turns out that it was beef curry and rice. Yum! I was lucky this time. A few weeks ago, I ordered randomly from a side stand and I swear I got animal intestines. Blegh!

The three-year-old kids while we were doing an activity to put stuffed animals to bed.

Here are the 4-year-olds.

Last Saturday, I had a friend take me to Taroko Gorge. I did not go up into the Gorge because I didn't have a bike, but I still got to see some very beautiful parts. They were having a celebration for Taiwan's 100th year anniversary with orchestras playing. The best part was when they had 100 french horns playing the Jurassic Park theme song. I admire anyone who can play the french horn. I hear it's one of the hardest instruments to play.
